The Karamessinis Family,
owners of Sfinaki Greek Taverna

The Karass family has been in the restaurant business for over 40 years. Originally from Greece, father Tom moved to Vancouver and pursued his dream of opening a family-owned and -operated taverna serving the best Greek food in the region. He realized that dream in December 1995, when Sfinaki first began welcoming guests – and the Karass family has continued doing so ever since.

At Sfinaki in Burnaby, our traditional Greek dishes are made according to family recipes passed down through generations, and always with the freshest, best-quality ingredients. We feel so fortunate to be both merchants and residents of The Heights – it’s like our customers are guests in our own home kitchen.

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful meal we all enjoyed today. I ordered the take out for 47… beef, chicken and lamb souvlaki, potatoes, rice, pita & tzatziki and greek salad. It was delish! The meat was tender and everything had lots of flavour! I have eaten at your restaurant several times, but was a little nervous ordering so much to go (sometimes takeout, especially large orders, at other establishments can be less than stellar), but you guys outdid yourselves! We will definitely do this again another time!


Very much enjoy the food, atmosphere and service. I’ve been to Greek restaurants from coast to coast and this is one of my favorites.
